Area of Focus for Soccer Development
Building confidence with the ball at your feet
The game of soccer has a multitude of activities to improve the skill and knowledge of players. Free Kick Soccer Camp will focus on and improve the fundamental skills and components needed to play the game of soccer for participants. We will provide a core foundation for participants to therefore build upon and improve for the future while still keeping it fun and engaging! The following list showcases the key skills we will be working on throughout the week at camp.
Dribbling
Footwork and dribbling is an integral part of soccer. Being able to use the inside of the foot for maximized control is key to ensuring the ball stays close. The drills and activities we run at Free Kick Soccer Camp will increase the participant's dexterity and confidence with the ball at their feet and elevate their game to the next level.
Shooting
Shooting drills at Free Kick Soccer Camp will prioritize placement of the soccer ball. Although there will be a focus on building striking power, it is pivotal to understand where to hit the ball and what part of the foot it should come off of. Participants will also be encouraged to practice using their non-dominant foot to further their game.
Passing
Being able to execute a pass is a fundamental part of playing soccer. At Free Kick Soccer Camp participants will be able to learn and build upon passing techniques such as what part of the foot the ball should come off and controlling their power. We will also work on increasing the vision of participants by encouraging them to look up at the target they want to pass to before executing it.
Rules & Knowledge
Learning the rules of any sport is key to development. It allows you to grasp a better understanding of how the game works. Throughout the week participants will gain a deeper knowledge of all of the rules associated with soccer. As well, the general positions of players on the field will be taught. Therefore, participants can gain a new understanding of spacing on the field in comparison to teammates.
